When Google’s latest algorithm upgrade recently rolled out, it came with a haunting melody of impending doom for websites that were not mobile friendly. Sites would be penalized in search results if they were not designed to display well on mobile screens. In anticipation of the change, we updated Tweetspeak Poetry, which was already a beautifully designed site, to meet the demands of the new algorithm with a mobile responsive layout.
The result, as you can see in the Before and After images below, is a site design that looks much like its predecessor, but with an update to more contemporary fonts, and larger images which give the site an even more striking appearance. The upgrade, built on the Genesis News-Pro theme by StudioPress, included much of the functionality that had been add-ons to the original theme, allowing us to eliminate unnecessary plugins and gain new features, while improving performance at the same time.
